Hallmarker Series - Supplement: Voices from clients using the system
Q.Why did you decide to introduce the Hallmarker ?
- Because it improves work efficiency compared with the operator having to perform inspections in conjunction with other routine duties.
- Because as a condition to do business, our client suggested we introduce an automatic inspection system that doesn't rely only on human eyes for checking. In the inspection process, inspection of paper and digital was required, but it was not just about the digital inspections, it's that no one else had software capable of doing inspections of paper and digital.
- Because from a standpoint of product quality guarantees, the company provides this product to its clients with confidence.
- Because only HM had the highly flexible software that can handle not only inspections of digital print work but can also handle analog print work.
- Because we could avoid the risks of printing mishaps caused by those inspection omissions other than revision instructions.
- Because we'd get distressed when we'd still end up with printing errors even though our people would double and triple check.
- We were investigating the availability of better measures that had "a level of difference"from those involved with human inspections.
- It has to do with time frames and feelings >>>We had been considering introducing it to deal with inspection oversights caused by the differences in the abilities of individuals.
Q.What have you experienced since introducing the system ?
- To produce reliable inspection results when introducing the HM system, the company explained everything to all of our cooperating companies and even color charts were provided. They demonstrated a thorough approach regarding their product quality and, compared with before, each of our cooperating company's awareness for product quality has clearly improved. There's even been an unexpected "synergistic effect of less frequent corrections required."
- By presenting 1 page to our clients with inspection results and saying "we're using this inspection system in our work"we take measures for our clients as a company with product quality assurances. By communicating this, we strive to differentiate ourselves from other companies.
- We have a 24-hour set-up and even during late night working hours, our work is in checking what's marked on the inspection results by using the software so we can do inspection work without any concerns about whichever time segment we're working
- Since introducing HM, from the viewpoint of product quality management, the some of our operators are saying "even if our work schedule should increase, we'll be able to work with peace of mind."
- Hairline differences are easily found where they certainly would not have been undetected using traditional visual inspections.
- It's not just about visual inspections by human operators, we're using the introduction of the HM Inspection System as part of our sales talk and we've actually received work from new customers.
- In the past, during times when confirmation work would go on between the printing factory and production, our printing presses would be at a halt. Time was wasted this way, but now, those back-and-forth activities for confirmation are completely gone.
It's clear that the times for halting our printing presses has decreased. Which, we believe, means our productivity has increased. - Since managing our quality control with HM, we can responsibly present printed materials to our clients.
- We're extremely satisfied with the degree of precision of the inspection results.
- In the past, when inspections were performed by human eyes, the average time was1 page per 2 minutes With HMC, the pace for inspecting is performed at an average of 2.8 pages per 2 minutes (which is 85 pages per hour). We believe our efficiency has gone up. (using HMC)
- We were able to create a structure that enables operators to devote time to their regular work. Also, the time that was spent before for inspections is now an environment for spending time for primary duties so we believe that productivity has risen. (using HMC)
- It's not that our working hours have lessened, but if were to have pursued visual inspections using human eyes to gain the same precise results as with using HM, we'd probably be spending over double the amount of time doing inspections.
- We're thinking of presenting our clients with the printout of the results of the time for the first proof, the second proof, and the inspection results giving the"assurance of product quality and demonstrating that "it's software that's performing inspections, not visual inspections by man. We're thinking that we shall actually have to do this.
- We introduced this system through the request of a client but, after this, even those who are not clients are carrying out their inspection workflow using HM, and other clients are thinking of carrying out their product quality management using HM in their working operations.
- Even after RIP treatment had omitted letters in places where the client had put them, these places were reliably identified as differences.
